- Geological Details
- The Showing is named Laurel Lake D deposit. It should be noted that the SMDC E Showing or Electrum Zone includes both the old Laurel D and E Zones. The D deposit is located east of the south end of Laurel Lake and has been exposed in 7 trenches, over a length of 250 ft (76.2 m).
The trenches expose a 10 ft (3.0 m) wide shear striking 010° and dipping 70°W. The shear cuts 290° trending, vertically dipping dykes of coarse grained hornblende porphyry cutting Amisk Group andesitic volcanics.
A section of the zone, from 6 to 12 inches (15.2-30.5 cm) wide, is highly sheared and contains considerable very fine grained pyrite and quartz stringers. Less sheared rock contains lesser pyrite and some chalcopyrite. The highly sheared and mineralized rock assayed up to 1.0 oz./ton Au.

- Exploration History
- 8/3/1988 Development work consisted of 7 trenches during 1932 to 1947 and one drill hole.
The area of the deposit was mapped in 1954 for the Saskatchewan Geological Survey by A.R. Byers and C.D.A. Dahlstrom. The occurrence was investigated by L.S. Beck in 1969. By 1972, the showing was within MIC claim No. 6.
By 1979, the showing was within S-95638 or MOR claim No. 3. SMDC completed ground EM and magnetic surveys (AF 63L09-0246) and a I.P./Resistivity survey over the property (AF 63L09-0254).
In 1983, SMDC completed a structural mapping program that covered the showing area (AF 63L09-0287). In 1984, SMDC completed a ground EM and magnetic survey over grid 81-1 (AF 63L09-0307).
In 1987, SMDC completed a soil sample survey over grid 1-82 which covered the showing (AF 63L09-0352). Samples taken over the E Showing returned up to 1620 ppb Au.
In 1995, Claude Resources entered into a joint venture agreement with Cameco and Husky Oil Operations to develop the property. In 1997, Claude Resources completed detailed mapping of the showing rhyolites and drill holes AL97-249 to -260 on the Laurel Lake Main Zone (AF 63L09-0431).
