- The Augustus A Zone showing or Henry Lake Gold Showing is located 1.24 miles (2.0 km) northwest of Henry Lake.
The showing area is underlain by a northeast trending belt of quartz-biotite/hornblende gneiss and/or migmatite and pyroxenite of the Archean La Ronge domain.
The A Zone Showing consists of a narrow layer of hornblende-rich gneiss (mafic to intermediate volcanic) which hosts numerous quartz stringers (quartz filled tensional fractures) which reach a width of 2 ft (0.6 km) and a maximum length of several hundred feet. Disseminated pyrite, pyrrhotite and rare visible gold was found at three locations where 315°-trending cross fractures intersected the veins. Augustus Exploration completed minor trenching.
Grab samples taken by Augustus commonly returned 0.01 to 0.02 oz/ton Au. Chip samples returned 1.90 oz/ton Au and 0.22 oz/ton Ag over 5 inches (15.2 cm), 0.24 oz/ton Au and 0.04 oz/ton Ag over 1.0 ft (0.3 m) and 1.22 oz/ton Au over 4 inches (10.2 cm). Other assays returned were 0.05 to 0.16 oz/ton Ag. In 1983 Golden Rule Resources grab sampled the A zone. Sample R-23-6, taken from a glassy quartz vein, returned 41,600 ppb Au and 2200 ppb Ag, sample R-23-10 returned 456 ppb Au, sample R-28-2 returned 2,060 ppb Au.
Pyrrhotite-bearing (up to 10%) calc-silicate layers occur in the area near the lake, and contain minor chalcopyrite. Assays of this material gave 0.01 to 0.02 oz/ton Au and 0.05 to 0.25% Cu. One assay of a trenched gossan to the north the lake returned 0.04% Ni.
The Fisher Showing, which was discovered by prospector Wayne Fisher, is located on the west shore of the lake approximately 175 m (574.2 ft) west of the A Zone Showing. The showing consists of N50°E bearing volcanic tuffs interlayered with quartzite, cherty material, ribbony quartz and calc-silicate material. Pyrite and associated chalcopyrite occur as small massive pods within quartz veining in the tuffs and up to 3% disseminated pyrrhotite is found both within the quartz veining and within the wallrock tuffs. Initial grab sampling of the showing returned the following values:
SAMPLE PPB PPB SAMPLE
NUMBER AU AG DESCRIPTION
________________________________________________________
WF-1-1 46 1690 25% diss. py in silicified volcanic
WF-25-4 72 1530 pyrite filled vugs in tuff
WF-25-5 12 560 1% pyrrhotite: mafic gneiss
The Buller Showing, which was discovered by prospector Walter Buller, is located 500 m (1640.4 ft) northeast of the A Zone Showing. up to 1% disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite are hosted within quartz lamallae in silicified tuff (hornblende-plagioclase gneiss). Initial grab samples returned up to 18 ppb Au and 0.6 ppm Ag.

- Exploration History
- 6/14/1988 Numerous conductors were outlined in the area during the 1954 to 1960 period in ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys.
The showing was located in 1961 by Nickel Rim Mines Ltd. who undertook exploration over the showing area.
In 1967, Sherritt Gordon outlined two small electromagnetic anomalies, parallel to, and 1 mile (1.6 km) east of, Henry Lake.
In 1974, Hudson Bay Exploration and Development Company Ltd. outlined numerous northeast-trending conductors to the south of Henry Lake and east of Key Lake during ground electromagnetic surveys on CBS 2193 to CBS 2196, CBS 2198, CBS 2199, CBS 2201 to CBS 2203. Fifteen follow-up diamond drill holes were reported.
On 22 January 1980, Walter Buller and Steve Haydukewich staked the showing area as CBS 5497. In December 1981, Golden Rule Resources Ltd. optioned CBS 5497. In the winter of 1982, Golden Rule completed ground EM and magnetic surveys over the showing area (AF 64D06-0047). In 1983, Golden Rule completed mapping, prospecting and rock and soil sampling at and around the A Zone Showing (AF 64D06-0048). This work resulted in the discovery of the nearby Fisher and Buller showings.
In 1984, Golden Rule Resources (50%) and Rex Silver Mines Ltd. (50%) agreed to explore the property. The agreement ended in 1987.
In 1988, Golden Rule completed further geological mapping, prospecting and rock sampling of the A Zone, Fisher, and Buller showings (AF 64D06-0057). None of the regional lithogeochemical rock samples returned over 100 ppb Au.
CBS 5497 was allowed to lapse on 1 July 1991.
In 1998 and 1999, D. McDougall mapped the showings.
