- In 1960, Padgham noted small amounts of chalcopyrite on the north shore of Milner Lake.
W. Padgham mapped the outcrops around the north end of Milner Lake as unit 2d or a series of metasedimentary rocks of basic to intermediate composition which are regionally interbedded with a series of andesitic metavolcanics. D. Thomas re-mapped the same area as being underlain by Central Metavolcanic Belt intervolcanic sedimentary units S3a, S3c, and S3d with minor intercalated metavolcanic rocks. Unit S3a is an amphibolitic pelite which was derived from re-worked mafic volcanic material. Unit S3c is an epiclastic biotitic pelite and unit S3d is an epiclastic biotitic psammopelite to pelite. On the east shore of Milner Lake, immediately south of the north tip of the lake, the Cemntral Metavolcanic Belt metasediments are overlain by McLennan Group unit S1a or potassium-feldspar-rich meta-arkose with subordinate quartzitic meta-arkose and minor outcrops of McLennan Group arkosic metaconglomerate (unit S1d).
The showing consists of minor amounts of chalcopyrite in trachytic-textured andesite of the La Ronge Domain (D. Thomas mapped this outcrop as unit S3d or epiclastic biotitic psammopelite). Small amounts of pyrrhotite and magnetite were also noted.

- Exploration History
- 7/19/1988 In 1970, Rajah Mines and Minerals Ltd. conducted an airborne magnetometer survey and follow-up prospecting program over CBS 1424 which then covered the area. Nothing of interest was found and the claim block lapsed later the same year.
By 1980, SMDC had staked the showing area as CBS 6756 and had completed an airborne EM and magnetic survey over the property (AF 73P10-0075).
On 1 September 1983, Silvera Resources Inc. staked the showing area as CBS 8920. In 1986, Silvera completed prospecting and sampling to the northeast of the showing near Wapiyao Lake (AF 73P10-0094). This work discovered the gold mineralization described as SMDI 2291 and 2292.
In 1987, D. Thomas re-mapped the area at a scale of 1:20,000 for the Saskatchewan Geological Survey.
In 1988, Silvera Resources completed ground VLF-EM and magnetic surveys over the showing (AF 73P10-0123). In 1991, a Uranerz-Placer Dome-Silvera-Great Bend partnership completed prospecting and rock sampling in the immediate showing area (AF 73P10-0150).
On 6 March 1992, CBS 8920 was reduced and the showing was covered by S-104633. Placer Dome acquired the property.
