Geological Details
The showing occurs approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Eulas Lake. G. Ray mapped the showing area as being underlain by a series of northeast-trending Rottenstone Domain migmatitic gneisses with largely pelitic to semipelitic to meta-arkosic gneiss and schist paleosome. In the showing area, the host rocks contain horizons of gossaned graphitic sulphide-rich pelites and semipelites. The rocks in the immediate showing area are cut by a series of northeast-trending faults. The showing consists of an 8 mile (12.9 km) long zone of rust-stained, graphitic metasediments (Rottenstone Domain), disclosing several gossans that overlie massive pyrite-pyrrhotite bodies. Apart from some malachite staining, these massive sulphides appear to be barren of economic mineralization. The mineralization is associated with northeast-trending shears which parallel the regional foliation.
