The Augustus Withdrawl Gold Showing is located 1.6 miles (2.6km) northeast of the northern end of Hayes Lake or about 200 m (656.2 ft) northeast to northwest of a small lake known as Little Lake. This showing is composed of grab and chip samples of outcrops and a trench in migmatized andesitic volcanics. Chip and grab samples returned 0.01 oz./ton Au. Sampling of the area in 1982 failed to reproduce these results. A second showing named the Little Lake Au-Cu Showing was discovered in 1982. This showing is located approximately 400 m (1312.3 ft) west of the northwest end of Little Lake at Little Lake grid co-ordinates 11+00S and 0+10W. The Little Lake area is underlain a north-northeast trending series of interlayered massive, fine grained, chloritized and carbonatized mafic metavolcanics and fine to medium grained felsic intrusives that range in composition from tonalites to granodiorites. This suite of rocks has been intruded by the dioritic to tonalitic brecciated phase of the Brinsdon Lake Intrusive to the south of the showing. The volcanics host up to 2% disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite. At the Little Lake Showing, a series of northeast trending shears are locally filled with narrow quartz-carbonate±sulphide veinlets. Initial soil sampling in the showing area returned values of up to 500 ppb Au. One grab sample taken of a pyritized quartz veinlet returned 0.065 oz./ton Au. Grab samples taken at the Little Lake showing returned the following values: SAMPLE PPB OZ./TON PPM PPM PPM PPM SAMPLE NUMBER AU AU AG PB ZN CU DESCRIPTION _____________________________________________________________________________ NR20-5047 800 ----- 0.6 --- --- 75 tonalite-andesite: py,cpy NR20-5054 400 ----- 0.4 --- --- 32 granodiorite NR20-5059 >1000 0.065 0.6 --- --- 34 dacite: py in qtz veinlets NR30-4188 >1000 0.024 --- --- --- -- trench NW lake: py,cpy NR30-4199 >1000 0.028 --- --- --- -- trench NW lake: py,cpy PL80-0007 440 ----- --- --- --- -- trench 3: andesite: py,po PL80-0008 550 ----- --- --- --- -- trench 5: andesite: py The HT Showing is located 210 m (0.13 mile) north of the Little Lake showing at Little grid co-ordinates 9+25S and 1+35W. The showing consists of a weathered, rusty fracture zone within a strongly silicified felsic intrusive breccia. The fracture zone, which trends 080°/60°SE, contains minor quartz stringers that host up to 0.5% disseminations and blebs pyrite, minor pyrrhotite and 2% magnetite. The better samples taken at the showing returned the following: SAMPLE SAMPLE SAMPLE PPB OZ./TON SAMPLE NUMBER TYPE WIDTH AU AU DESCRIPTION _____________________________________________________________________________ PL80-215 grab ----- 360 ----- felsic intrusive breccia:py,po,mt PL80-011 grab ----- >1000 0.091 felsic intrusive breccia: py,mt PL80-214 grab ----- >1000 0.206 felsic intrusive breccia: py,mt The PR Showing is located 900 m (0.56 mile) north of the Little Lake showing at Little grid co-ordinates 2+35S and 1+27W. The showing consists of a 046°/85°NW trending rusty shear zone in strongly silicified and sheared felsic intrusive breccia. Up to 10% pyrite occurs within the sheared breccia as fine to medium-grained disseminations in association with minor magnetite and chalcopyrite. Exploration History
7/5/1989 During the 1961 to 1963 period, Augustus Exploration Ltd. sampled the showing which returned the values listed above. In 1968, Lytton Minerals Ltd. reported minor magnetite showings in the area during a prospecting program. On 21 February 1981, Goldsil Resources Ltd and Golden Rule Resources Ltd staked the showing as CBS 6427. In 1982, SMDC-Goldsil-Golden Rule completed a reconnaissance program of geological mapping, prospecting, rock sampling (AF 73P16-0038) and lake sediment sampling (AF 73P16-0039) on the property. This resulted in the discovery of a Au-Cu-Py-Po occurrence or the Little Lake showing. This showing was trenched and sampled. In 1982, CBS 6427 was taken over by a partnership involving SMDC (60%), Goldsil Resources Ltd. (10%) and Golden Rule Resources Ltd. (30%).In 1983, ground VLF-EM and magnetic surveys were completed over the Little grid (AF 73P16-0062) as well as further mapping, prospecting and soil sampling (AF 73P16-0063). In 1984, SMDC completed further prospecting and sampling on CBS 6427 (AF 73P16-0065). One grab sample taken from a trenched highly carbonatized volcanic-intrusive contact returned 0.065 oz./ton Au. In 1988, the partnership completed a ground magnetic survey over the showing (AF 74A01-0123). In the same year, the showing was geologically mapped, prospected and chip sampled and soil, humus and bulk till surveys were completed over the showing (AF 74A01-0147). This work led to the discovery of the HT and PR gold showings. In 1989, a ground magnetic survey was completed over the Little grid (AF 74A01-0168).
