Geological Details
The MAC Claim Fluorite Showing is located approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) upstream from the mouth of the Tazin River. The area is underlain by Martin Lake conglomerates which unconformably overlie Tazin Group gneisses. A major fault system and prominent linement, the Tazin River Fault, crosses the area in an east-west direction. Several cross cutting faults appear to form graben-like structures which hold remnant blocks of unmetamorphosed Martin Lake sediments between outcrops of paragneiss. The showing consists of fluorite associated with east-trending calcite and hematite veins within Martin Formation conglomerate. Brecciation and fracturing has been noted in the area and is due to movement along the Tazin River Fault. The veins also contain minor pyrite and gold. South of this fluorite showing, two zones of radioactivity were found and trenched. The Western Showing on claim MAC no. 12 appears to consist of small spot occurrences in a pegmatitic granite. The Easterly Showing occurs in a quartz vein well mineralized with magnetite, limonite and pyrite. The radioactivity was traceable for a strike length of 50 ft (15.2 m).

Exploration History
8/8/1988 In 1954, the MAC claims were recorded by Great West Uranium Mines Ltd, who prospected and examined the property geologically for uranium. The occurrences comprising the showing were noted at this time. In 1974, CBS 5385 was staked for Dejour Mines Ltd. who entered into a partnership with Derry, Michener and Booth (DMB). Work up to 1976 included the establishment of 4 miles (6.4 km) of grid line, a track etch reconnaissance survey, a geological compilation and a photogeologic study. This program was designed primarily to establish whether or not the geological conditions were favourable for the occurrence of uranium. In 1976, DMB and Dejour Mines Ltd. entered into a joint venture with SMDC. Soon after, DMB assigned their interest to Auric Resources Ltd., but remained within the joint venture. The work consisted of a winter track etch survey and emanometer surveys over anonalous areas. Not all the results were reported but anomalous readings were again obtained by track etch over the existing showings.
