Geological Details
The showing is located 0.5 mile (0.8 km) southwest of the southwest end of Dorward Lake. The area southwest of Dorward Lake, as mapped by B. Chadwick (1965). is underlain by a series of basal Wollaston Group mixed biotitic psammites to pelites with intercalated feldspathic quartzite bands (unit 2 or biotite paragneiss). The unit 2 supracrustals unconformably overlie Johnson River Inlier gneissic granites. The Wollaston Group pelites and psammites are overlain by a series of meta-arkoses and calcareous (diopsidic) meta-arkoses with interlayers of feldspathic quartzite (unit 1). The Wollaton Domain supracrustals have been intruded by a series of second generation pegmatites. The showing consists of a small outcrop of uraniferous pegmatite cutting a biotite gneiss unit, which is consistent with Chadwick's regional geological observations. A short trench was completed and sampled with assay results as given below. Exploration History
6/14/1989 The showing was first located in 1980 as a result of reconnaissance prospecting by Eldorado Nuclear Ltd. Numerous uraniferous and thoriferous boulders were located and a few small uraniferous outcrops were located (AF 74H09-0050). It was as a result that the outcrop which comprises the showing was located.
