- Geological Details
- The showing is located on a small island in the northeast corner of the northernmost bay of Island Lake. The showing is approximately 150 m (45.7 ft) east northeast of the northeast tip of Hunter Island.
The general showing area is underlain by the granodiorite phase of the Island Lake Pluton and by a series of east-northeast-trending basic and acidic metavolcanics, minor acid tuff, agglomerate, quartz porphyry and felsite of the Archean La Ronge Domain. Quartz veins occur in within a series of narrow shear zones that cut both the granodiorite and the volcanics.
The showing consists of two grab samples taken from a granodiorite hosted, narrow, discontinous, pyritic, shear-hosted quartz vein located on a small island east of Hunter Island and one grab sample taken from an identical vein located on the northwest tip of Hunter Island (900 m or 0.56 mile to the west).

- Exploration History
- 11/12/1991 The area was first noticed in 1960 when E.F. Partridge drilled 4 packsack drill holes on the nearby Keta Showing
Kerr Addison Gold Mines Ltd. optioned the Keta claims and conducted geological mapping, electromagnetic and magnetic ground surveys and channel sampling over the area but all the Keta veins (excluding the No. 1) were barren or contained only trace Au and Ag.
In 1977, SMDC completed an airborne INPUT and magnetic survey over the showing. In 1980, Golden Rule Resources Ltd. was granted MPP 1112. In 1981, Energy Reserves Canada Ltd. optioned the property. In 1982, SMDC novated into the Energy Reserves-Golden Rule Resources joint venture, took over as project operator and completed a reconnaissance program of lake sediment sampling (AF 73P16-0039) and mapping, prospecting and rock sampling (AF 73P16-0038). In 1983, SMDC completed further mapping, prospecting and sampling on the property (AF 73P16-0063). In 1983, Energy Reserves sold their portion of the property to Goldsil Mining and Milling Incorporated.
In 1984, D.J. Thomas geologically mapped the showing area at 1:20,000 for the Saskatchewan Geological Survey. On 18 December 1984, the above mentioned partnership staked the showing as CBS 7431 (within MPP 1112).
In the summer of 1987, the joint venture partnership prospected and rock sampled the Hunter Island area of Island Lake (AF 73P16-0097). Two grab samples taken on a small island located east of Hunter Island and one grab sample taken on the northwest tip of Hunter Island returned the values that constitute this showing.
In 1988, the partnership completed VLF-EM and magnetic surveys over the showing (AF 73P16-0107). Between 1990 and 1991, Cameco completed geological mapping, prospecting, and rock and bulk till sampling on the Island Lake grid which covers the showing (AF 73P16-0156). In 1991, further detailed mapping, prospecting, and rock and bulk till sampling was completed over the showing area (AF 73P16-0159). CBS 7431 was allowed to lapse.
On 21 June 2002, Rod Spooner staked the showing area as S-106997 for Golden Band Resources Inc. In 2004, Golden Band completed backhoe bulk till sampling along the "Island Lake Trail" immediately to the east of the showing (AF 73P16-NE-0170). The sampling failed to return any significant results.
